Glitch Oil Creep is an extra low viscosity oil (rating 3) for spool bearings, knob bearings and the spool shaft.

Creep

Glitch Oil Creep is an extra low viscosity oil (rating 3) for spool bearings, knob bearings and the spool shaft. It is made for the lightest lures from 0.5 to 6 g: BFS, trout and perch fishing.

High spool speed and maximum free spin. One small drop per bearing is enough.

Viscosity

Where this oil sits.

Thin oil lets the spool spin freely, which suits light lures. Thick oil damps the spool and protects under heavy loads.

The number is the viscosity rating of the oil. The lure weight shows where each oil works best.

Glitch Oil

Creep: extra low viscosity for 0.5 to 6 g lures.

The oil decides how a bearing feels. Thin oil lets the spool start early and spin long. Thicker oil calms the spool and stays in place under load. This one sits at 3 on the viscosity scale.

What makes it different

The thinnest oil in the range

The maker places Creep below High spec, closer to water than any other oil in the line. It is made for the most sensitive setups: light game, trout and ice fishing, where every other oil is already too thick.

Where it goes

What Creep is made for.

  • Spool Bearings

One small drop per spool bearing. That is all it takes. More oil only slows the spool down.

  • Knob Bearings

One drop per knob bearing keeps the knobs turning freely and quietly.

  • Shaft

A thin film on the spool shaft, where it runs through the pinion, cuts friction during the cast.

What you get on the spool

  • High Speed

Very little drag in the bearing, so the spool comes up to speed with the slightest input.

  • Maximum Free Spin

The spool keeps turning long after the flick. That is what carries a light lure further.

Works with

  • Open bearings
  • Apex and other ceramic bearings
  • Edge and other hybrid ceramic bearings

How to oil

One drop. Three steps.

  1. Clean firstOld oil and grease have to come out. Fresh oil on top of old residue does not help.
  2. One small dropTouch the dropper to the bearing and let one drop run in. Not more.
  3. Spin and wipeTurn the bearing a few times so the oil spreads, then wipe off what comes out.

Good to know: one drop costs a little free spin compared with a dry bearing. You see it in a spin test, you barely notice it on the water. In return the bearing runs quieter and lasts longer. Core bearings come greased and need no oil.

FAQ

Questions about reel oil

Which oil goes with which bearing?

For Apex we use High spec, for Edge Tumble Weed. Core bearings come greased and need no oil. For stock bearings pick by lure weight: the lighter your lures, the thinner the oil. The scale on this page shows where each oil sits.

High spec €29,95
Tumble Weed €29,95
How much oil does a bearing need?

One small drop per bearing. More oil does not protect better, it only brakes the spool and collects dirt.

Does oil slow the spool down?

A little. A dry ceramic bearing spins longest in a spin test. With one drop you lose a bit of free spin, which you barely notice on the water. In return the bearing runs quieter and lasts longer.

When should I oil again?

When the spool gets louder or the free spin drops. After a trip in rain, salt or sand it is worth cleaning the spool bearings and giving them a fresh drop.
